ballerina girl

I'm blogging way out of order, I have so much else to catch up on. But I wanted to post pics of the first day of Maryn's ballet class. (Thanks for the leotard, Grandma Jeannie!)

She let me do her hair in these little buns, so cute!
I wasn't able to stay in the room because Jonas was so jealous and wanted to go and sit with the girls, so I had to take him out to the hall. This is a pic of me peeking through the door. Maryn is sitting to the right of the girl in the white tutu.
The class is 30 minutes a week for 3-4 year olds. It's not a real ballet class, it's more about movement and music. But the instructor does teach them the ballet positions and they practice them while playing games and using props. The girls aren't required to wear dance gear, they can wear whatever they want, really. But it's a fun opportunity to dress up like ballerinas (and some of the girls went all out, believe me!)

The following pic is of Maryn and her absolute best friend, Zoe. Whenever we are on our way anywhere, Maryn asks "Is Zoe going to be there?" Luckily the answer is usually yes!
(I think we'll skip the tights next time!)

I love the little buns in the back of her hair too!
As for the tights, what the heck did they do in that class anyway?

Ditch the tights and put legging capris with the little lace trim on her. That will look darlin'! How fun!

what a beauty. love it. I'm so thankful zane is a boy,so I don't have to feel like he's missing out by not being in cute little classes like this (I need you to make me feel better about not sending him to a pre-pre-kindergarten too, by the way. didn't seth just go to a pre-kindergarten? but not a pre-pre?)

anyway, friend lillie had the cutest tutus on her blog awhile back: here's the link.

I think if you click on her friend's name in the post, there's even a tutorial. I might be wrong though. who needs a tutorial anyway? it just looks like ribbons and that magic tutu material. which I suppose I should learn the name of before thinking they are so easy...

Michelle, Pat here... My thoughts as a current Kindergarten teacher... Zane is getting good social interaction skills from Primary and play groups. A good structured pre-school a couple days a week the year prior is plenty to have him ready for Kindergarten. You will do more for him by reading to him and talking to him than 2 years of pre-school! He needs to be a '1000 book' kid before he goes to school. That means he needs to have heard at least 1000 books (can be repeats of the same one) to learn the structure of language (grammar) and story structure (beginning, middle, and end). You are his biggest asset! Save your money! My humble, unsolicited opinion!
